Mangaluru: Road mishap claims life of young Yakshagana artiste in Arkula

Mangaluru, Dec 26: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a college student and young Yakshagana artiste near Arkula Junction on the city outskirts on December 31 evening.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Praveeth Kumar, a first-year postgraduate student of social work at Vittal First Grade College and a performer with the Sasihithlu Bhagavathi Yakshagana troupe.

Known for his portrayal of female roles, Praveeth was on his way to perform at a Yakshagana show scheduled in Bajpe Kandavara Bail when the mishap occurred.

According to reports, the accident happened when Praveeth's bike skidded near Arkula Junction, causing him to fall onto the road. Tragically, a vehicle transporting ice cream ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru City Traffic South police station.

    The Arkula junction need to be declared as major accident zone. So many accidents are happening in this junction.

    Every day so many people are dying on Mangalore and Udupi roads. People should file cases against Police , RTO and National highway authorities!!!
