Chandigarh, Oct 9 (IANS): A traditional wedding procession in Punjab turned into a tragedy when four women were crushed to death by a speeding truck late Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
The victims were part of a 'Jago' procession, usually taken out a day before marriage at midnight, near Sangrur, 130 km from here.
"The speeding truck crushed the victims. We have arrested the truck driver and registered a case against him," a police officer said.
Following the incident, angry people blocked the road near the accident spot.
