Mangaore, Sep 3: St Aloysius College, Aloysius Institute of Management and Information technology (AIMIT), Beeri organized a three-day faculty development programme from August 29 to 31.
The programme was held with the objective of enhancing the research skills of the young research scholars, academicians and giving them innovative insights into research methodology with significant emphasis on technical education.
The programme was inaugurated on August 29 by lighting the lamp by chief guest Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal of St Aloysius College, Fr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ, chairman of MBA department (AIMIT), Dr Nanda Kumar, dean of management of Goa University, Dr Suresh Poojary and Dr Babu Thomas, dean of research (AIMIT).
Chief guest Fr Swebert SJ, principal, St Aloysius College, Mangalore addressed the gathering by giving them the glorious past and the present history of the St Aloysius College and it’s primarily focus on imparting quality of education. To researchers and academicians he asked them to keep two things in mind that is -Intellectual honesty- without having any pre-conceived ideas and every research need to have relevance to poor people.
Dr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ spoke on ‘Research of research’ and he took the session on ‘Towards a basic philosophy of research processes’ – where he highlighted the importance of, to investigate natural phenomena in the research process should be simple and attractive as the natural phenomena we are investigating. Secondly from a system perspective, everything in this world (subjects, objects, properties and events) is a system, and every system is inter-connected with every other system. Thirdly new and veteran researchers should be encouraged to enter the challenging domain of discovery, creativity and innovation.
Sumitha Achar elucidated the vital role of statistics in research methodology.
