Mangaluru, Dec 27: In today’s digital world, online scams and fraudulent games have become increasingly common, with more and more people falling victim to such traps. Despite extensive media reports, many continue to lose money in these scams.

A recent scam in Dakshina Kannada involved the RPC app, which promised users the opportunity to earn money by watching videos. Initially, several individuals participated and made some money. However, the scheme soon grew into a large network, with organised programmes and promises of lucrative returns. As a result, many people invested crores of rupees into the scam.

On December 24, the RPC app was shut down, and on the same day, Surya (24), a resident of Moodushedde, went missing. His body was found floating in the Maravoor river on Thursday.

According to sources, Surya had invested around Rs 70,000 in the RPC app, and upon learning that the company had shut down, he is believed to have taken his own life, as he had borrowed money for the investment.

Kavoor police are investigating the case further.
