Bengaluru, Dec 28: MLA Munirathna has accused Kusuma Hanumantharayappa, the defeated Congress candidate from Rajarajeshwari Nagar, of being behind a false rape case filed against him.

Speaking in Bengaluru, Munirathna stated, "A false rape case has been filed against me. I regularly visit the Adichunchanagiri Kala Bhairava Temple. Let Kusuma come there as well. In front of the deity, let her swear that she has no connection with the person who filed this case."

He challenged Kusuma, saying, "You are educated and intelligent. Do not stoop to low-level politics. Support the work being done in the constituency and refrain from spreading false propaganda."

Munirathna also expressed outrage over remarks suggesting that an MLA should not visit his constituency. "This is the first time someone is speaking in such a manner. The case is being handled in court, and we must respect that process. Even DK Shivakumar, who was in Tihar Jail, continued to visit his constituency. How is it justified to say I should not visit mine just because my case is in court?" he questioned.
