Mangalore, Aug 23: As a part of 60th birthday celebration of Mata Amrutanandamayi (Amruthavarsham 60), the Mata Amrutanandamayi Seva Samiti in association with Mangalore City Corporation will hold ‘Save my beach campaign’ on September 1 said samiti president Vaman Kamath.
Addressing the media during a press meet held at MCC, Vaman Kamath said ‘the greatest challenge coast is facing is from the monsoon trash being washed ashore’. Hence as a curtain raiser for the 60th birthday of Mata Amrutanandamayi, the samiti is organizing campaign to clean beaches.
The ‘Save my beach’ campaign will begin at 7 am with breathing exercise for few minutes and then beach cleaning is done in areas like Someshwara beach, Bengre beach, Thannirbhavi (church-forest guest house), Thannirbhavi (main beach), Panambur beach, Chitrapur beach, Hosabettu beach, Surathkal beach, Surathkal light house and will conclude at Mukka beach.
During the campaign, willingness forms of blood donors will also be collected, he added.
Many educational institutions and service clubs like local youths club, lions, Rotary clubs, Kanara small scale industries association and others have extended their support in organizing this campaign.
MCC commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, samiti members Yathish Baikampady, Dr Sanath Hegdem Dr Devdas, Manjunath, Swarna Sundar, Gaurav Hegde among others were present.
