Panaji, Jan 19: The national productivity council (NPC) has approached various state governments including Goa and few north eastern states with the proposal to prepare a report on restructuring of government departments which will enhance productivity of the states.
NPC's director general Dr Kamal Taori who was down in Goa on Thursday met chief minister Pratapsingh Rane and discussed issues related to productivity enhancement in Goa. "Goa being a small state can be shining example in how to increase the productivity, if certain measures are taken,'' said Dr Taori.
The NPC has already submitted its proposal to Goa government, three months back, listing various measures that can be taken to improve state's productivity. ``We are trying to find out whether available menpower is productive enough and whether our government departments are productivity oriented,'' he informed.
"We can start with small departments and later work on larger ones,'' he added.
Dr Taori informed that NPC had performed well in cases of productivity enhancement in Mumbai's mantralaya, electricity board besides few other central government establishments.
"Productivity is not just industrial productivity. It touches every sphere of life. We should take productivity in a holistic approach,'' said Taori interacting with the press before meeting the chief minister.
He emphasized the media's role in increasing the productivity of the state. Stressing that to productivity is the only answer to sustain and progress in the globalisation, Dr Taori said that it's not only for the state government but for every individual to work on increasing his own productivity which will contribute to state's productivity ratio. "We should take up productivity as a mindset,'' he advised.
The NPC DG stressed for energy saving in various departments and industrial sector which will contribute to productivity enhancement.
