Media Release

Goa Apr 1: The annual Lenten retreat for the Chotanagpur Youth Group Goa, organised by Arnold Seva Kendra (ASK, Goa) in collaboration with the Chotanagpur Youth Group, was held at the SVD Seminary in Raia in Goa. The retreat provided a spiritually enriching experience for all who participated.

The retreat began with an energising praise and worship session led by Fr Cranston Vaz, SVD, followed by uplifting animation songs conducted by Fr Michael Pereira, SVD. These sessions set a vibrant tone for the event, encouraging deep spiritual reflection.

Two insightful sessions, titled “Life and living for god” and “The need to return to god,” were delivered by Fr Anthony Soreng OP and Fr Suman Indwar Sfx. These sessions inspired the youth to renew their faith and deepen their commitment to God. A particularly impactful moment during the retreat was the sacrament of confession, where participants experienced God’s profound mercy and forgiveness.

The youth also participated in the way of the cross on the mountain of the SVD Seminary. As they climbed the mountain, they prayerfully reflected on the journey Jesus took while carrying the cross. This solemn journey culminated in a deeply moving Eucharistic celebration on the mountain, presided over by Fr Anthony, creating an atmosphere of reverence and spirituality.

The retreat proved to be a transformative and prayerful experience for many. One participant shared, "It was a deeply moving and prayerful experience that strengthened my faith." Not only did the retreat offer a time for spiritual reflection and renewal, but it also strengthened the bonds of the youth community in their shared spiritual journey.

The retreat concluded with a special adoration session where the youth spent time in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Many found this moment of silent adoration to be profoundly personal and spiritually uplifting, feeling God's presence in their hearts.

The retreat wrapped up on a joyful note with a thanksgiving prayer and a final blessing from Fr Michael Pereira, SVD, who encouraged the youth to carry the spirit of the retreat into their daily lives.
