New Delhi, Apr 2: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, along with his parents, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, April 2.
Capt Chowta, accompanied by his father Sesanna Chowta and mother Pushpa Chowta, met the prime minister at his office to seek his blessings and guidance. On this occasion, he presented Modi with a 'Pili Munde' (tiger mask), a symbol of Tulu Nadu's cultural heritage, as a memento. Additionally, he gifted a framed photograph of the Mangaluru Kambala and prasadam from Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, making the meeting a memorable and significant moment of honor.

Expressing his feelings after the meeting, Capt Chowta said, "It was a moment of immense joy and satisfaction to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with my parents. During the interaction, we discussed various topics, especially the rich art, culture, and traditions of our coastal region. His deep knowledge of these aspects was truly inspiring and a proud moment for me. His encouraging words and pat on my back have given me greater motivation to continue serving the people."
During the meeting, prime minister Modi and capt Chowta also discussed the development of Mangaluru based on the Gujarat model. He highlighted that, like Gujarat, Mangaluru has a historic trade and commerce background, a port city status, entrepreneurial growth, shipbuilding, fishing, food processing, and a rich cultural heritage, making it a ‘Mini Gujarat.’ He sought Modi’s guidance in developing Mangaluru along similar lines.
Capt Chowta emphasized that Mangaluru has vast potential and abundant resources to contribute significantly to India's developmental journey and achieve self-reliance in every sector.
Describing the meeting as an unforgettable experience, he said, "Meeting our esteemed Prime Minister Modi along with my parents was an emotional and priceless moment. Coming from a humble middle-class background, serving in the Indian Army, and working as a party worker to now standing beside a global leader like Modi is a dream come true. It was a surreal experience to meet the great leader who once encouraged me to pursue my political aspirations, and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity."
