Moodbidri, Sep 25: The ‘happy women committee’ which is a part of the centenary jubilee of Paladka church with the help of Samanvaya association, Mangalore had arranged a free tailoring course at Paladka.
The six month tailoring course which began on March 15 concluded on September 23.
A felicitation programme to distribute certificates to the candidates was held at the Paladka church premises.
The students of tailoring class showcased a cultural show at the valedictory.
Chief guest of the function Denis D’Mello, ex-secretary of the Parish and a tailor by profession said that tailors have good future. In his 17 years of tailoring he never faced scarcity of business.
Director of Samanvaya, Dr Ronald Cutinha appreciated the work of ‘Happy women committee’ and also the teacher of tailoring class.
He said that the tailoring class not only helps in getting training but also developing personality of the participants.
He said Samanvaya is able to undertake this kind of social service only on account of the willing and generous help from the donors.
Sewing Machines for this course were donated by Mangalore Konkans Dubai and the course was funded by Antony D’Souza and family, Qatar.
Parish priest Fr Gilbert D’Souza presided over the function and said that the ‘happy woman committee’ always organizes several programmes for the benefit of women and all the programmes have received a good response from women. He wished the students a better future.
