Agonda, Apr 6: Acting on the directives of the High Court, authorities on Saturday unsealed 18 tourism establishments at Agonda in the presence of Canacona Deputy Collector Madhu Narvekar. This brings the total number of unsealed structures to 23, as five had been unsealed earlier.

A total of 63 beachside establishments were sealed last month due to licensing and permission issues. With 23 now reopened, 40 structures continue to remain sealed as the 2024-25 tourism season nears its end.

Sources informed that the unsealed establishments submitted all required licences and permits to the High Court, which led to the favourable order.

The team, led by Dy collector Narvekar and accompanied by Agonda Panchayat secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar, visited the southern side of Agonda beach to unseal the establishments, most of which are resorts.

Officials from the electricity and water supply departments were also instructed to reconnect power and water lines to the unsealed premises.

Earlier, in response to a separate court order, five establishments had been unsealed and their utilities restored in two phases.

While several affected owners have complied with legal formalities and approached the court, others have neither sought permission from authorities nor submitted the required documentation. A number of such owners have dismantled their temporary structures, restoring the beach land to its original condition.
