Guwahati, Mar 14: The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) marked World Kidney Day with a special awareness program, highlighting the growing concerns over Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Assam.
Doctors and health experts at the event emphasized the alarming rise in kidney-related ailments, attributing it to lifestyle changes, increasing diabetes and hypertension cases, and lack of early detection. They urged people to adopt healthier habits, undergo regular screenings, and stay hydrated to prevent kidney disorders.

Speaking at the event, senior nephrologists stressed the importance of timely intervention and the role of government initiatives in tackling CKD. Patients and survivors also shared their experiences, underscoring the challenges of managing kidney disease.
The awareness campaign aimed to educate the public on preventive measures and the need for better healthcare access for CKD patients in the region.
