Mangaluru: Income Tax Department’s association celebrates International Women’s Day

Mangaluru, Mar 12: The Women’s Association of the Income Tax Department, Mangaluru, celebrated International Women’s Day on March 12 at the C R Building auditorium. Themed “Rights, Equality, Empowerment for All Women and Girls,” the event recognized the invaluable contributions of women in various fields and felicitated sports achievers Sneha S S and Amreen.

Prof Er A Mitra S Rao, trustee, board of governors, Srinivas University, graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the significant role of women in shaping the financial and administrative framework of the nation. She lauded the Income Tax Department for its dedication and relentless efforts in strengthening the country’s financial system and highlighted how women officers and staff have been integral in ensuring transparency and efficiency in tax administration.

S Renga Rajan, IRS, commissioner of income tax (appeals), presided over the event. In his address, he reinforced the importance of women’s empowerment in all sectors, particularly in leadership roles, and acknowledged the need for gender-inclusive policies in government institutions.

Renowned gynecologist and obstetrician Dr Lisa Pinto from Bengaluru attended as the guest of honour and highlighted the significance of self-care and mental well-being among working women. She encouraged them to prioritize their health, nutrition, and stress management while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

The event concluded with an interactive session where attendees shared insights on gender equality and empowerment. Organized by ITSRC, Mangaluru, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation from department officials, dignitaries, and guests, all united in celebrating the strength and resilience of women in society.
