British tourist’s social media meet turns nightmare in Delhi; two arrested

New Delhi, Mar 13: A British woman was allegedly raped by a man she met on social media at a hotel in Delhi, leading to the arrest of two suspects, police confirmed on Wednesday.

According to officials, the victim had travelled to India and checked into a hotel in central Delhi, where she met the accused. The suspect, whom she befriended online, allegedly assaulted her inside the hotel room. Following the incident, the woman reported the crime to the police, prompting an immediate investigation.

Authorities swiftly apprehended the prime suspect along with an accomplice. "Both individuals have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway," said a senior police officer.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of foreign tourists in India. Officials have assured strict action and reinforced the importance of vigilance while interacting with strangers on social media.

The British High Commission has been informed, and the victim is receiving necessary support.
