Kundapur, Mar 13: In a theft incident reported on March 11 night, miscreants stole the idol of Lord Rama along with other deities from the Ram Temple at Shiriyar Kalamargi under the Kota police limits.

However, for reasons unknown, the thieves abandoned the stolen idols near the riverside. The theft came to light on March 12 morning.

Upon receiving the information, Kota police and Brahmavar circle inspector Divakar visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A canine squad was also brought in for investigation. The police dog traced the scent of the miscreants to the riverside, where the stolen idols were found.

A case has been registered at the Kota police station. Meanwhile, as the Mari Habba festival is underway at Mekke Kattu Sri Nandikeshwara Temple, devotees believe that Lord Nandikeshwara himself intervened to prevent the theft.

Local residents have urged the authorities to take serious measures, as several theft incidents have occurred in the region in recent times.
