Udupi, Mar 8: Udupi district BJP staged a protest over the state budget calling it unfair, at Udupi district BJP office on March 8.
In the protest they expressed their anger that no grants have been reserved for Udupi district in the budget.
Kishore Kumar Kundapura, president Udupi district BJP, said, "BJP is not a party focused on vote banks or politics, it is a social organization dedicated to public welfare. Since coming to power, the Congress government has created problems for the people. Their promises were made only to win elections, not for the welfare of the public. BJP had to protest to ensure these promises were fulfilled. Chief minister Siddaramaiah’s budget is merely for documentation, not for the people's benefit. We had hoped for grants to be allocated for the development of the coastal region, but none were provided because all five MLAs from this area belong to the opposition."

MLC Danajay Sarji said, “The Congress government has done nothing for development. The grants meant for the welfare of SC and ST communities are being diverted to fund the guarantee scheme. With a population of about 8 cr, the state government has burdened each person with a debt of Rs 1 lac.”
The protest saw the participation of MLA Yashpal Suvarna, president Udupi City Municipal Council Ptabakar Poojary, leaders Herga Dinakar Shetty, Shivakumar and others.
