MAHE celebrates Women's Day with a call for inclusion and empowerment

Udupi, Mar 8: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) hosted International Women’s Day on March 8 at KMC Greens, Manipal. Centred around the theme 'Accelerating Action', the event was not only a tribute to the monumental contributions of women but also a call to further accelerate efforts towards an inclusive and equitable society.

The event was graced by the chief guest Shobha Mishra Ghosh, director and head government, affairs and policy, GE healthcare, India & South Asia along with an esteemed panel of dignitaries, including Vasanti R Pai, trustee, MAHE Trust, Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor, MAHE, Lt Gen (Dr) M D, Venkatesh, VSM (retired), vice chancellor, MAHE, Kusuma Venkatesh, educationist, president Indira S Ballal, philanthropist, Manju Sharma, convener, community service, Dr N N Sharma, president, Manipal University, Jaipur, Air Marshal, Dr D C Agarwal, vice chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University, and Alka Agarwal.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Shobha Mishra Ghosh, director and head government, affairs and policy, GE healthcare, India & South Asia, said, “The International Women’s Day event by Manipal Academy of Higher Education not only celebrates and empowers women through education but has also fostered inclusive growth. As we celebrate women’s achievements, let us also break barriers and build a future where every individual, regardless of gender, can thrive.”

Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor, MAHE, said, “The event by MAHE recognizes the meaningful contributions of women and fosters the importance of an inclusive environment where women are empowered to push the boundaries and break the unwanted expectations set by society."

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, VSM (retired), vice chancellor, MAHE, said, “The event by MAHE, is impactful in making everyone realize women’s full potential. This event has highlighted how we can together establish a society where equality and empowerment will go hand in hand.”

A Lakshmi Bai, retired principal, and Kusuma Kamath, agriculturist and social worker, were felicitated by MAHE in celebration of International Women's Day.

The International Women's Day at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) taught us that it is our responsibility to come together and make society inclusive and to empower, uplift, and motivate women to achieve their goals.

The festivities featured a variety of engaging activities, including games, food stalls serving delicious treats, and captivating cultural dance performances, making the celebration both vibrant and memorable.
