Mumbai, Mar 7: In a dramatic search operation, Mumbai Police successfully located two 12-year-old girls who had allegedly run away from their homes to watch a movie and visit a water park. The girls, who are neighbours from Khar, embarked on an adventurous journey across the city before being found at Water Kingdom.
According to Nirmal Nagar Police, the two minors left their homes on Wednesday, informing the younger sister of one of them that they were heading to Juhu Chowpatty. However, when they did not return by late night, their worried parents approached the police and lodged a kidnapping complaint.

Following the complaint, multiple teams were deployed, and their possible whereabouts were checked at friends' and relatives' homes. As no clues emerged, the police control room issued a citywide alert, broadcasting details over wireless networks to all patrolling units.
Extensive CCTV footage analysis revealed that the girls first boarded a local train from Khar station to Borivali on Wednesday evening. Further surveillance at Borivali showed them watching Chhaava, a Vicky Kaushal-starrer, before spending the night at Brahmakumari Garden.
The next morning, they were seen boarding an auto-rickshaw. Tracing the driver through the vehicle's registration number, police learned that he had dropped them at Gorai Jetty. Given their young age, police suspected they might have gone to amusement parks such as Essel World or Water Kingdom.
Acting swiftly, police contacted Water Kingdom authorities and inquired about two minor girls matching their description. Their efforts paid off as the girls were found at the water park. A police team reached the location, safely brought them back, and reunited them with their families.
Authorities are now recording the girls’ statements to determine whether any external influence or foul play was involved in their decision to run away, a police source said.
