Mangaluru, Feb 24: A road safety campaign was organized by St Aloysius College Higher Primary School in collaboration with its Alumni Association and the Mangaluru Traffic Police Department on February 20. The campaign commenced from the school premises, with students holding placards and chanting road safety slogans as they marched around PVS Circle, concluding at Hefel Studio.

The event was graced by ACP Najma Farooqui, who attended as the chief guest. Neil Rodrigues, secretary of the Alumni Association, warmly welcomed the gathering. Fr Johnson Pinto SJ, the correspondent, presented a bouquet to ACP Najma Farooqui as a token of appreciation. Dr Christopher D'Souza, president of the Alumni Association, honoured the chief guest with a memento.

In her address, ACP Najma Farooqi emphasized the importance of road safety, elaborating on essential traffic rules. She also administered a road safety oath to the students, instilling in them a sense of responsibility as pedestrians and future drivers.

A compelling street play on road safety was performed by class 7 students in collaboration with MSW students of St Aloysius College, effectively conveying key safety messages. To encourage student participation, the chief guest also distributed prizes for the best signboards created by the students.

The event was attended by teachers, non-teaching staff, alumni association officials and students. Jossita Noronha, the headmistress of the school, expressed gratitude to all contributors and participants. The programme was expertly compered by Teacher Celestine Vas.
