Bengaluru, Jan 10: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, addressing irregularities and scams in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), questioned legislators from Congress, BJP, and JD(S) why they allowed MUDA's mismanagement despite being members for two decades.

During a meeting with legislators and MPs of Mysuru district at his Home Office, Krishna, Siddaramaiah expressed dissatisfaction with the state of private layouts, highlighting the lack of basic infrastructure such as drainage, electricity, and roads.

“Most of you have been members of MUDA for 20 years. Why did you allow these irregularities?” he asked. He emphasized that new layouts must have basic facilities before being handed over to civic authorities. He pointed out the absence of facilities in 950 layouts and directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report for Rs 670 crore to address these issues.

The chief minister also expressed frustration over the Mysuru Airport expansion delays, announcing plans to meet the Union Civil Aviation Minister on January 15. He noted that payments for acquiring 111 acres were completed, while 95 acres are pending payment, with an additional 46 acres yet to be acquired.

Siddaramaiah instructed officials to expedite works related to roads, Ambedkar Bhavan construction, and the Film City project. He also demanded urgent measures to vacate the dilapidated Devaraj Urs Market.

A separate meeting involving MUDA and other civic authorities has been called to resolve ongoing issues.
