Mangaluru, Dec 15: Pro chancellor of Nitte University, Dr Shantharam Shetty, along with other dignitaries, inaugurated ‘Samyak Healthcare,’ a unit of the Bright Group, offering assisted living services for the elderly, at Maladi Estate, Kottara, on Sunday, December 15.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Shantharam Shetty remarked, "Elderly people need the presence, care, and understanding of their children. They require attention and proper care, especially since living alone can be dangerous. Once the children leave the house, the elderly are left to live on their own. A living facility like Samyak Healthcare offers a ray of hope for such individuals."

MLA of Mangaluru South, Vedavyas Kamath, said, "Under the leadership of Mohan Raj, this assisted living home for the elderly has been inaugurated. This facility is a significant need in a city like Mangaluru. I realized this during the pandemic lockdown, when many elderly couples were left alone while their children stayed abroad."

Fr Ajith Menezes, administrator of Father Muller Medical College, added, "This is a wonderful initiative by Mohan Raj, turning an empty nest into a lively and fulfilling home. It will be a challenge for Mohan Raj and his team, as it requires time, energy, compassion, empathy, and care for the elderly. I am confident that this young couple has the capability to take on these challenges."

Other dignitaries present included Dr Amitha Marla, director of AJ Hospital and Research Centre; Dr Naveen Chandra, district surveillance officer; Dr Raghuveer, former pro chancellor of Devraj URS College, Kolar; and Dr Prabha Adhikari, professor and head of geriatric medicine at Yenepoya College.

Mohan Raj, managing director of Samyak Healthcare, and Dr Havyashri were also present. Mohan Raj welcomed the gathering, and Soujanya Hegde compered the event.
