Moodbidri, Nov 2: Carmel School Moodbidri honored the 69th Kannada Rajyotsava with unparalleled enthusiasm paying homage to Karnataka's vibrant culture, heritage and language on November 1. This spirited celebration brought the school community together in a colorful meaningful tribute to Kannada pride.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song setting a serene tone and invoking blessings for Karnataka and its people. A captivating welcome dance followed conveying heartfelt greetings to all present. Pradyumna Bhanu Prakash then delivered the welcome address warmly acknowledging the collective efforts that made the day memorable, while Sr Maria Gracilda welcomed the chief guest with a potted plant.
A ceremonial lamp lighting was led by the chief guest Celine D’Souza along with Sr Maria Gracilda AC the principal, Sr Preena AC the vice principal, Sr Rosy the coordinator and two student representatives.
The event featured a compelling mono act by Neha portraying the Paschatapa (regret) of Ashwathama, captivating the audience with her emotional intensity and depth. Through her performance she brought to life the timeless story of Ashwathama's inner conflict and remorse immersing everyone in the anguish and lessons of this legendary figure.
Risha Teresa Pereira enriched the programme by narrating the historical significance of Kannada Rajyotsava sharing insights into Karnataka's formation and legacy. Students then performed a vibrant dance that celebrated Karnataka’s diverse cultural heritage.
Guest of honor Celine D’Souza a retired higher secondary teacher with 40 years of dedicated service shared her wisdom and experiences inspiring both students and staff. Her address which included reflections on Karnataka's history underscored the importance of preserving and cherishing one’s native culture. Principal Sr Maria Gracilda encouraged students to take pride in their language and carry forward Karnataka's values and traditions.
As the programme concluded Anston Ashley Fernandes delivered a thoughtful vote of thanks expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the day’s success and a memento was presented to Celine D’Souza by Sr Preena as a token of appreciation.
The state anthem was sung with pride leaving everyone with a renewed sense of unity and appreciation for Kannada culture. The Kannada Rajyotsava programme was skillfully emceed by Ashrith Amin whose captivating presence added warmth and vibrancy to the celebration.
