Ramanagara, Apr 19: In a shocking incident that took place in the early hours of Saturday April 19, miscreants opened fire at Ricky Rai, son of the late underworld don Muthappa Rai, in Bidadi, Ramanagara district. The shooting occurred around 1:30 am near the compound in front of Muthappa Rai’s residence in Bidadi. The assailants fired three rounds, targeting Ricky Rai.
The attack happened while Ricky Rai was travelling in a car along with his driver and gunman from Bidadi to Bengaluru. As the vehicle was near the residence's compound, miscreants launched a gun attack, injuring Ricky Rai. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bidadi for first aid and later shifted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment.
Ramanagara SP Srinivas Gowda and DySP Srinivas visited the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Bidadi police station, and a thorough probe has been initiated. Efforts are on to identify the miscreants and determine the motive behind the attack.
In the attack, the assailants specifically targeted the driver’s seat, firing three rounds. Ricky Rai usually drives the car himself, which might be why the attackers aimed at that seat. However, on this occasion, the car was being driven by his driver, Raju, who narrowly escaped serious injury by bending forward during the gunfire. Ricky Rai, who was seated next to the driver, sustained serious injuries to his nose and arm from the bullets.
The incident occurred suddenly while the car was entering the main road in front of the house. Ricky Rai had returned from Russia just two days ago and was actively involved in real estate business. Driver Raju has provided information about the incident to the police, and an investigation is underway under the leadership of Bidadi Inspector Shankar Nayak. Currently, police officers and the FSL team are examining the site. Ricky Rai remains in serious condition and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
