Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School hosts various activities on National Unity Day

Mangaluru, Oct 31: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, is celebrated every year on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's ‘Iron Man’. Sardar Patel played a pivotal role in persuading 562 princely states to merge with the Indian Union, shaping the country's unity and integrity. His remarkable diplomacy and leadership earned him immense respect, leading to the declaration of October 31 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014.

In connection with Rashtriya Ekatha Diwas, Lourdes Central School has hosted various activities in the school ground. The programme began with the prayer song by the school choir. The importance of the day was presented by Dhruv. Sampreet of class XC, delivered a powerful and impactful declamation on the Iron man of India which was engaging and apt to the day. Yashica of class XD administered the unity pledge to the entire Lourdite family to uphold unity and integrity.

Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira initiated the unity run, emphasizing its significance to raise awareness among students. He encouraged them to foster unity both within the student community and in society at large.

The celebration was concluded with the run for unity symbolizing the Indian unification by the students of class IX.

All these events encouraged the Lourdites to come together fostering a sense of national pride.
