Udupi: Mount Rosary English Medium School organizes eco-friendly Diwali competitions

Media Release

Udupi, Oct 30: Mount Rosary English Medium School, Santhekatte, organized eco-friendly Diwali competitions, to encourage students to celebrate Diwali while caring for the environment.

Sr Ancilla Roshani D Mello, principal encouraged students to always maintain environmental consciousness and to opt for pollution-free 'green' firecrackers in upcoming festivals, safeguarding both their health and that of nature.

School organized a rangoli competition for the girls, promoting natural materials over harmful artificial colours, opting for grains, pulses, and flower petals. This not only beautified their designs but also introduced the students to a variety of grains and flowers, making the event both artistic and educational.

For the boys, the school hosted a traditional lamp-making contest where they used sustainable materials like coconut leaves, bamboo, old paper, and areca husks, steering away from plastic, thermocol, and foam sheets. The students eagerly participated, creating art pieces with resources that nature generously provides.
