Mangaluru: Srinivas University conducts 33rd annual food fest ‘HOG -2K24’

Mangaluru, Oct 29: Srinivas University, Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism, Pandeshwar conducted the 33rd Annual Food festival ‘HOG – 2K24’ on October 26 at the city campus Pandeshwara.

Srinivas University’s chancellor and A Shama Rao Foundation president Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, presided over the programme and said, “We started the hotel management course in 1988, and since then, wherever our students go whether for competitions, internships, or jobs they bring back achievements, which makes us proud.”

Mangaluru ASG senior commandant Virendra Mohan Joshi was the chief guest of the programme, and he advised students to follow their passion to achieve their dreams. He noted that the hotel industry is growing rapidly, and students here have chosen an institution with a visionary like Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao to guide and support them.

Aravind Shrivastav, general manager of Mangaluru Forum Mall, Fiza by Nexus, said, "This course will provide you with knowledge about food, wine, beverages, and hospitality, which is essential for everyone. You are in a field where you interact with people, and perfection in food and service is paramount."

Srinivas University pro-chancellor and A Shama Rao Foundation vice president Dr A Srinivas Rao, assistant general manager of Mangaluru Forum Mall, Fiza by Nexus, Suresh Koragappa, Srinivas University board of governors trustee member A Vijayalakshmi R Rao and Prof Er A Mitra S Rao, Srinivas University registrar Dr Anil Kumar, development registrar Dr Ajay Kumar, Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism dean Prof B Prashanth Prabhu and deans and staff of the sister institutions were present.

Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism Student Council president, Amog, welcomed the gathering. Catering secretary, Mukunda, introduced the food counters, and Student Council general secretary, Aishwarya, delivered the vote of thanks. Joshua and Aqeefa compered the programme.

The annual food fest has been organized since 1992 to expose Hotel Management students to the intricacies and nitty-gritty of event management. Students get to experience various fields like sales and marketing, food production, F&B service, purchasing, and other management skills.

Flaring & juggling, cultural programme, and mouth-watering delicacies were the highlights of the evening.
