Udupi, Oct 25: In a landmark collaboration aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sectioninfin8, Mangaluru, to facilitate the establishment of incubation facilities in the campus.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the SMVITM campus, attended by key representatives from both organizations, including Vishwas, founder director, Sectioninfin8, Mangaluru; Dr Shivakiran Makham, director – strategy and planning, and Aravind C Kumar, CEO, Sectioninfin8.
The college management were mainly represented by the secretary of SMVITM, Ratnakumar, the governing council members - Jagdish Acharya, chief executive, Jade Head Managers & Associates, Mumbai and Harish Belman, proprietor, Premier Investments, Udupi; the principal, Dr Thirumaleshwar Bhat; vice principal, Dr Ganesh Aithal; director – MBA, Dr Suraj Francis Noronha; and dean – academics, Dr Nagaraj Bhat.
The agreement seeks to leverage the strengths of both institutions to create a robust framework for supporting start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs among students, faculty members and external stakeholders over time.
Under the terms of the MoU, SMVITM and Sectioninfin8 will collaborate on various initiatives, including awareness & training programmes, conducting a series of workshops on design and innovative thinking, business development, and entrepreneurial skills, guided by industry experts and mentors, supporting start-up funding and mentorship and more
The MoU marks the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at elevating the standards of higher education and fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in this region. Both parties are optimistic that this partnership will lead to the creation of successful student start-ups and drive innovation within the educational framework.
