Bengaluru, Oct 25: The sustainable developmental goals or, SDGs is a collective vision for a better future when the world around us is confronted by the increasingly environmental, social and economic challenges. Here at Christ University, the SDG Cell stands as a beacon of hope that embodies the institution’s commitment to fostering sustainability, social responsibility and community engagement towards building a greener future. Under the guidance of vice chancellor, Dr Fr Jose CC, this initiative is being implemented and carefully monitored by the SDG Cell to ensure that CHRIST University takes a leading role in promoting sustainability.
Inculcating values that nourishes the students with responsibilities and makes them aware of their duties towards creating a sustainable future. The SDG Cell works rigorously towards driving actions that fulfil all the UN’17 goals. As, Dr Fr Viju PD pro-vice chancellor shares, “Sustainability is not a distant role; it is a way of life that we must instil in every aspect of our lives and also into our educational journey."
Set up in the year 2021, the SDG Cell ensures through its various campaigns that the abstract concept of sustainability is transformed into tangible initiatives, that yields participation and borne results. Like this year’s IGEN Greenday 2024 Campaign, a week-long programme that offers students to choose their favourite UN SDG Goal, pledge for green action and put them into practice, serve as one of the instances of the SDG Cell in action.
With the participation of 1000+ students, the SDG Cell encourages people to accept responsibility for their activities by serving as an example of moral leadership and accountability. In essence, the SDG Cell at CHRIST University not only enriches the educational experience but also champions the cause of a sustainable future.
