Puttur: St Philomena PU College organizes JOTA annual international scouting event

Puttur, Oct 21: St Philomena PU College, in collaboration with The Bharath Scout and Guides Local Association Puttur, organized JOTA (Jamboree on the Air), an annual international scouting event, on October 20.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal of St Philomena PU College, emphasized the importance of discipline and skills in building a beautiful life and healthy society through scouting.

The inaugurator, Bharath Raj K, ASOC, Dakshina Kannada, stressed the need for programmes that encourage children to learn harmoniously with nature.

The chief guest, Sridhar Rai, district assistant commissioner, highlighted the benefits of Scouts and Guides in personality development and learning. Saikumar Mahantesh and Manjunath Kuri extended their well-wishes.

Convenors of Rangers and Rangers Unit, Chandraksha, department of computer science, Sharath Alva, department of history, Rajesh Mooliya, physical education director, Poornima D S, department of statistics, and Sandesh John Lobo department of English coordinated the programme.

LT (Guide) Sunitha, district organizing commissioner of Guides welcomed the gathering. Scout leader, Chandraksha, lecturer in computer science proposed vote of thanks. Sharath Alva, lecturer in history, compered the programme.

Students from various educational institutions, including bunny, cubs, bulbuls, scout guides, and rovers rangers, participated in numerous activities.
