Puttur: St Philomena College (Autonomous) inaugurates Rovers and Rangers activities

Puttur, Oct 21: The Rovers and Rangers unit of St Philomena College (Autonomous) launched its activities for the academic year 2024-25 with an inauguration ceremony held on Friday at the PG Seminar Hall.

Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, registrar of academics at St Philomena College, presided over the event. In his address, Dr Mascarenhas emphasized the significance of service and leadership in shaping the youth of today. He remarked, “Being part of the Rovers and Rangers not only fosters personal growth but also instils a sense of responsibility towards our community.”

The resource person, Chandraksha, lecturer, department of computer science at St Philomena PU College, Puttur, highlighted the importance of teamwork, adventure, and practical skills in his speech. “The Rovers and Rangers unit serves as an incredible platform for students to develop leadership skills, engage in outdoor activities, and contribute to community service. Participating in activities such as trekking, camping, and social initiatives will empower you to make a positive impact,” he stated.

The event commenced with a solemn prayer led by Veeksha and her team. Skanda Krishna welcomed. Khalandar Shareef, the Rover Scout leader, provided a detailed overview of the Rovers and Rangers units’ vision for the upcoming year, sharing insights into the activities and projects planned for the students.

Veeksha proposed vote of thanks. Rakshith compered the programme.
