Doha, Jun 18: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 and 7 at Al Handasa compound and at Brilliant Indian International School by planting saplings and conducting drawing competition with an environmental theme for Sangha children.
As many as 72 children participated enthusiastically and displayed their talent by drawing spectacular pictures with three different themes, which were judged by the guest Vaishnavi Shreenivasan. Chief guest Baburajan, the former ICC president appreciated the continued initiative of KSQ, Vice president Ramesh KS welcomed the gathering. President Ravi Shetty in his address, emphasized the importance of preserving Mother Earth and urged everyone to plant trees whenever and wherever they get an opportunity.
Advisory chairman Mahesh Gowda, ICC vice president Subramanya Hebbagilu, advisors Arun Kumar, V S Mannangi, H K Madhu, Dr Sanjay Kudari, ICC former president Milan Arun, Karnataka based associations presidents & MC members graced the event and motivated the participants. Joint secretary L G Patil proposed the vote of thanks.
Environment & logistics secretary Shashidhar H B anchored the closing ceremony and coordinated the event along with ladies and children coordinator Bhuvana Suraj, all MC members and volunteers extended their support towards the success of the event.
