Puttur: St Philomena College inaugurates integrated company secretary course

Puttur, Apr 23: The BBA Integrated Company secretary course, offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for BBA students at St Philomena College, was inaugurated on April 22. This initiative, which began last year, continues as ICSI prepares students for the month of May examination session. The principal, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, ceremonially lit the lamp and encouraged the students with a motivational speech about adopting positive life practices and working diligently towards their ambitions.

“In accordance with the Companies Act of 2013, employing full-time Company Secretaries (CS) is mandatory for all international companies. To further this educational pursuit, the department of business administration the college collaborated with the ICSI Mangaluru chapter in the academic year 2022-23, establishing a study centre in Puttur. Many from its inaugural batch are advancing in their CS studies. The college also offers a professional BBA CS course, enriched with internships, workshops on start-ups, industrial visits, food fests, and coaching for banking and competitive exams,” said Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, the dean and department head, also noted the inclusion of modern subjects such as data analytics and business analytics to equip students for industry demands.

St Philomena College is proud to be the only ICSI study centre in Puttur taluk, established in the academic year 2022-23. This distinction highlights its unique position in providing specialized Company secretary training to students, who are welcome to visit the centre for detailed course information.
