Udupi, Feb 14: Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has stated that party workers and leaders want him to contest from the Dakshina Kannada constituency in the Lok Sabha elections, with the final decision to be made by the party high command. Sorake mentioned that the list of candidates will be released by the end of February.

Speaking at a press conference in Udupi on Wednesday, he said, "If everyone works together, this is possible. There are numerous failures of the current MP. I had previously represented Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts as a Lok Sabha member. I am originally from Puttur and served as an MLA there twice. We have contact in that district also. Finally, the high command will conduct a survey, hold a screening committee meeting, and take a decision. The name is nothing final. AICC, KPCC survey will be conducted, and opinion polling of leaders will also be done. I have experience working in both the districts. Workers and party leaders may have mentioned my name with love, this is the love we have acquired.”

Vinay Kumar Sorake, who refused to comment on Jayaprakash Hegde's re-joining the party in Udupi, said it is a matter left for the high command to decide.
