Udupi, Feb 10: In a significant development, the chief civil judge of Udupi and the JMFC court dismissed the parole request submitted by Praveen Chowgule, the prime suspect in the Nejar Quadruple murder case on Friday February 9.

Chowgule's plea, filed on February 8, sought temporary release to attend the funeral rites of his deceased brother, Nitin, who passed away on February 1 in Sangli, Maharashtra. The parole was requested for a duration of three hours.

However, senior assistant public prosecutor H M Nadaf opposed the plea, citing concerns regarding potential disruption to law and order if Chowgule were to be granted temporary release. Additionally, Nadaf argued that the accused had failed to provide a death certificate for his brother, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the request.

Following a thorough consideration of the arguments presented, Judge Deepa ruled against granting parole to the accused and issued an order to that effect. Senior assistant public prosecutor H M Nadaf was present during the proceedings.

Sources close to the case revealed that the investigative team is slated to submit the charge sheet pertaining to the murder case to the Udupi court on February 12, the deadline stipulated for such filings. It is noted that the investigation has concluded, with forensic science laboratory reports already in the possession of police.
