Mangaluru, Jan 26: Lourdes central school celebrated 75th Republic Day on January 26 at the school premises with great éclat. The programme commenced by creating a prayerful atmosphere with a hymn and intentions.
The dignitaries on the dais were Father principal, Robert D’Souza, the chief guest Ashok Pinto, the vice president of the Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, Father Arul, vice principals, Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas. A genial welcome was given by Amil Barboza.
The chief guest of the day escorted by the deputy sports minister, Shubhan Das along with the dignitaries hoisted the national flag with great pride and honour. The significance of the day was highlighted by Mithra of class 9 upholding the values and responsibilities of the citizens. A melodious medley of patriotic songs was presented by class 8 students.
Father principal, Robert D’Souza, addressed the gathering, reflecting on unity in diversity, and duties as a citizen of this great country. He advised the students to be committed, positive and dedicated leaders of our nation. He also stated to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society, where the principles of our constitution are not just words on paper but a reality that live by every day. Father principal also appreciated their presence in large number. The programme concluded by Erina Mariam of class 6 and compered by Premal D’Souza of class 7. The programme was organised by Shamitha Machado.
