Udupi, Jan 13: On the occasion of National Youth Day and 161th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, NSS-YRC-RC unit and Insitution’s Innovation Council of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) Bantakal jointly organized a talk on 'Swami Vivekananda’s message to Youth' on Friday, January 12. Venkataramana Prasad, head, department of mechanical engineering, NRAM Polytechnic Nitte, was the resource person.
In his presentation he said that the youth of any country is a great asset and they are the building blocks of a country. "They are indeed the future of the country and represent it at every level. The role of youths in nation building is very important as intelligence and work of the youth will take the country on the pathway of success<" he said and added that Swami Vivekananda fostered new enthusiasm for progress among the youth so that whole country celebrates his birth anniversary as National Youth Day. He also said that Swami Vivekananda is a very practical man and believed that the service to mankind should be selfless as service to mankind was service to God.
Venkatarama Prasad highlighted that the youths are energetic and enthusiastic. "They have the ability to learn, adapt to the environment and act on it to achieve their goals. Youth can bring social reform and improvement in society." he said. He concluded the talk by saying that the nation requires the participation from all the youths to achieve their goals and help in taking the country towards progress.
Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal, briefed about the importance of National Youth Day. Dr Ganesh Aithal, vice principal; deans, student welfare officer, HODs of various departments, section heads were present during the talk. Nagaraja Rao, coordinator NSS-YRC-RC unit conducted the programme. Ananya of 3rd year ECE welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Akshatha of 3rd ECE introduced the resource person and proposed vote of thanks.
More than 150 students including faculty and staff participated in the talk.
