Kundapur, Jan 13: “Today’s world is a competitive world. There is competition worldwide. For an organization to develop strongly there are many challenges. It is important to take part in the competition. Winning and getting defeated is secondary. Participating increases self-confidence. If we have to be leaders, we need to inculcate communication skill in our life,” said Narayana Shetty, retired principal of Bhandarkar’s college.

Shetty was speaking at the IMJISC Young Leaders award 2024 programme that was held along with the birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda at the IMJ science and commerce college at Moodlakatte.


















In the first round more than 200 students of 22 colleges of Udupi and Uttara Kannada took part in the competition. In the final round 45 students of 15 colleges participated.

Ln Neelakanta M Hegde, former district governor of Lions Club inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and said, “Swami Vivekananda is a great personality who informed the world about the culture of India. If we understand his ideals, it is like understanding the world. It is really appreciable that this organization has arranged event that encourages students. Students should dream about tomorrow. Put effort till you are victorious. Accordingly you have to give up your beliefs and bad habits and inculcate principles in life. Your future is in your hands.”

In the valedictory function that was held in the evening prizes were distributed to the winning students. Keerti of SPU Kunjibettu, Udupi bagged the first prize of Rs 5000. Second prize of Rs 2000 cash was won by Kaitlin of SRS College Udupi and third prize of Rs 1000 was awarded to Rachana of Siddartha PU College Bhatkal.

Dr Ramakrishna Hegde, director of brand building presided over the function. Vice principal Prof Jayasheela Kumar read the report. Dr Pratibha Patel, principal of the organization was present. The evening programme was compered by assistant professor Sumana. Swarna Narayani rendered vote of thanks.
