Udupi, Jan 12: The annual sports meet of Trinity Central School, Perampalli for primary and senior students (grade 5- 10) was held recently.
The chief guest of the function was Ren Trevor Dias - faculty department of commerce MAHE, Manipal and a renowned sports trainer.
The event commenced with the invocation of prayer by school choir students. Deekshitha of grade 9, presented the welcome speech. Henrita of grade 10 introduced the credentials of the chief guest.
The march past, the pride of every sports day, voiced by Henrita D'Souza of grade 10 and led by the head boy Anson Fernandes and head girl Saanvi Acharya, students presented a commendable and disciplined march past. The stadium glowed with the presence of the cadets of the colourful school houses – Spoleto, Greccio, RivoTorto and Laverna.
Ren Trevor Dias, the chief guest along with principal Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, vice principal Fr Ravi Rajesh, academic co-ordinator Magdelina Lewis declared the sports meet, open by floating the lanterns and thus declaring the commencement of the Trinity annual sports.
This was followed by the oath of fair play to all students.
In his address to the students, Ren Trevor Dias spoke of the importance of having a sports day in the school. He also conveyed the necessity of being and taking part in any sport activity.
As in the Olympics, the lighted flaming torch is a reminder of the zeal and fairness with which sports persons have to play. The lighted torch – beacon of unity and sportsmanship was taken around the stadium of Ajjarkad.
On this special occasion Rajath, alumni was felicitated by the chief guest and the dignitaries on the dias for his outstanding achievement in the field of sports in the year 2023.
In his message, principal Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo reiterated the importance of being active in sports.
Melroy of grade 10 proposed the vote of thanks.
All students actively participated with enthusiasm in all sporting events, and spent an eventful, productive and enjoyable day on the ground.
