Mangaluru: SIT Institute’s Innovation Council organizes national level hackathon ‘Roolathon’

Mangaluru, Dec 21: SIT Institute’s Innovation Council, in association with Google Developer Students Club (GDSC), EDP, and Yukthi Cell, jointly organized the 24-hour national level hackathon – Roolathon on December 21 and 22.

Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University, Mangaluru, and chancellor of A Shama Rao Foundation, presided over the function and inaugurated it by lighting the lamp on December 21. He addressed the participating students, emphasizing that through events like this, they can acquire the skills necessary to become entrepreneurs or secure jobs in the industry.

Mohammed Raees, managing director of Rooloo Innovations Pvt Ltd, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He encouraged the students to strive towards becoming proficient coders. Additionally, Raksha, director of Rooloo Innovations Pvt Ltd, and Sayed Jamil, CTO of Rooloo Innovations, were present.

Shailesh Shetty provided insights into the Roolathon. Over 70 teams from various engineering colleges in Karnataka and Kerala participated in the Roolathon hackthon competition. Rooloo Innovations Pvt Ltd presented three problem statements, and they generously sponsored the three prizes. There was also, a separate category where students could develop solutions to society- related problems, with separate prizes available.

Dr Soorya Krishna K, EDP coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. Sowmya and Manvitha hosted and coordinated the programme as the masters of ceremony. Rithik Ranjan, GDSC coordinator escorted the guests to the dais.
