Mangaluru: SJEC organizes beach cleaning campaign

Mangaluru, Dec 7: The community engagement committee under the cultural and community group, SJEC, in collaboration with ‘Epsilon’ the physics department association and the Indian Coast Guard, Karnataka, organized a beach cleaning campaign on November 30. The SJEC faculty members and students took part in the campaign.

Olivia Sequeria, assistant professor, physics department greeted everyone in the formal event began. The chief guest of the event was Commandment Munish Kumar Aggarwal, the commanding officer of the Coast Guard Air Enclave (New Mangalore), and the guest of honour was Dr Rio D'Souza, principal of SJEC.

Commandment Munish Ashok Kumar Aggarwal and Dr Rio D'Souza addressed the crowd. The vote of thanks by Olivia concluded the official programme. Later, SJEC students, staff, and Indian Coast Guard officers started a cleanup campaign for the beach. A total of 108 college students and twelve faculty members had participated in the campaign. A photo session was conducted to officially conclude the beach cleanup initiative.
