Mangalore, Sep 3: An attractive idol of Lord Ganesha, which was installed and worshipped by Bunts Hostel Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti at Omkarnagar here, was immersed after being taken out in an impressive procession on the night of Saturday September 3.
‘Chende’ players from Kerala, people chanting ‘Bhajans’ all along the route, and hundreds of devotees accompanied the idol of Lord Ganesha from Bunts Hostel, the starting point of the procession. All along the route, people gathered on both sides of the streets to pay obeisance to Lord Ganesha. Later, the idol of Lord Ganesha was immersed at Venkataramana lake.
At the ‘Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava’ organized at Bunts Hostel on Saturday, various programmes were organized throughout the day.
The day began with ‘Prathakala Pooja’ at 8 am and 1,008 coconut ‘Mahagana Yaga’ was performed by the priests till 11 am. Later, ‘Poornahuthi’, ‘Maha Pooja’, and distribution of ‘Prasadam’ was held.
‘Sarvajanika Annasantharpane’ was also organized from 12.30 pm onwards.
Later, at the religious discourse organized at 3.30 pm Shree Rajashekarananda Swamiji, and Shree Kshetra Vajradehi, Gurupur, delivered spiritual messages. Malady Ajith Kumar Rai, Kodialgutthu, president, global Bunts unions, presided. Deputy speaker Yogish Bhat, minister Krishna J Palemar, president of bunts union Puttur Jeevan Bhandary, Kishore P Rao, MD of Kerala state forest development corporation Amarnath Shetty, Narayan Hegde, MLC Ganesh Karnik, Vijayanath Shetty of Bhoothanatheshwara temple Mijar, Cornel N S Bhandary, and DC Chennappa Gowda were the chief guests.
Meera Alva of Shree Rama Vidyalaya Kubanooru addressed a religious talk.
On the occasion, Narasinha Thanthri of Venkataramana temple Car Street, entrepreneur Abdul Rauf Puttige, R K Bhat of R K group, Moodbidri, T Rajeeva Mendon of Jai Veeramaruthi Exercise School, Thokkottu, Bhasker K of Canara Bank, Shivabaug, and Sheena Nalke were also felicitated.
