New Delhi, Apr 17 (PTI) New aviation technologies like common-use kiosks and web or mobile check-in systems to make air travel easier and customer-friendly are being increasingly introduced in India by airport operators and airlines.

Very soon, when you pass through Delhi airport's plush Terminal-3, only with hand baggage, you will be able to go straight to the security gate without checking in at the airline counter and catch your flight.

You will just have to show your e-ticket or boarding pass, retrieved from the airline site at home or in office, at a common-use kiosk at the airport entry point which would validate this travel document.

This would be made possible by a new technology called 'VeriPax', which is "going through trial stages at the T-3 now", Jim Martin, Managing Director (Asia Pacific) of global aviation technology firm ARINC, told PTI here.

The legislation, sponsored by Democrat senator Mark Leno of San Francisco, passed on a 23-14 vote.

"We are second-class citizens and children are listening. When they see their teachers don't step up to the plate when their classmate is being harassed literally to death, they are listening and they get the message that there is something wrong with those people," Leno said.

Republican state Senator Doug La Malfa opposed the bill saying: "I'm deeply troubled kids would have to contemplate at a very, very early age, when many of us are teaching abstinence ... what is sexuality."

According to California law, schools are required to teach about contributions to the state and nation by women, African Americans, Mexican Americans, entrepreneurs, Asian Americans, European Americans, American Indians and labour activists.

The new bill will also add disabled people to the list.
