Udupi, Jul 2: The department of Science and Technology-Science and Engineering Research Board, government of India and Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering sponsored 3-day workshop on 'Machine Learning Concepts for Modelling and Control of Nonlinear Systems' was inaugurated by Dr Ravindra D Gudi, dean Alumni and Corporate affairs, IIT Mumbai on Jun 27 at MIT Manipal. The event was organized by the department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering MIT Manipal from Jun 27 to 29.
In his inaugural address he stressed the relevance of such workshops whrerin researchers can get to know difference between different advanced computational techniques and critical issues in applying them.
Also he reiterated basic fundamental knowledge understanding is essential to work on advanced technologies. During the three day workshop Dr Ravindra D Gudi, Dr Jagadeeshan Prakash, Dean, MIT Chennai, Annamalai University, Dr Shrinivasa Palanki, Chair, chemical Engineering West Verginia University, Dr Prashant Mhaskar, professor, McMaster University, Dr Papa Rajan, MIT, Chennai have delivered special talks on recent application of Machine learning concepts to modelling and Control of Batch reactor and identification of hidden states.
In addition, Dr I thirunavukkarasu, Dr Ramakrishna Kini Professors, department of ICE, MIT Manipal and Dr V I George, retired professor, MIT Manipal delivered a few more special lectures on the relevant theme.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants from all over India including scientists from ISRO. Dr Anil Rana director MIT, Dr Somashekar Bhat, joint director MIT and Dr Shreesha Chokkadi, professor and head of the department Instrumentation and Control were present and spoke on importance of understanding and updating with advanced techniques of computation to enhance teaching and research.
