Tirupati, Apr 28: A tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district claimed the lives of five people on Monday.
The incident occurred near Thotapalli in Pakala when the car they were traveling in collided with a container truck. Five individuals died instantly at the scene, while two others sustained critical injuries. Police have transported the injured victims to Tirupati Ruia Hospital for treatment.
The deceased and injured were pilgrims hailing from Hosur in Tamil Nadu. They were on their way home after having darshan at the Sri Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala. Among the deceased are two women, two men, and a nine-year-old child.

According to police reports, the car rammed into the rear of the container truck on the Putalapattu-Naidupeta National Highway. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was extensively damaged and became lodged underneath the container. Tragically, body parts of the deceased were scattered around the accident site, making the recovery of the bodies a difficult task for the police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were likely members of the same family. The Pakala police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the accident.
A police official stated that efforts are underway to formally identify the deceased, and their bodies have been sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. The car involved in the accident bore a Tamil Nadu registration number, while the container truck was registered in Karnataka.
Police suspect that the car was being driven at a high speed, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle and crashing into the heavy truck.

He has instructed district officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care.
