Beltangady, Apr 28: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly harassing a 17-year-old girl student by sending inappropriate messages.

The accused, a volleyball player and coach at a private college, reportedly continued to send unsolicited messages, prompting the girl’s family to file a police complaint. He was arrested within the Beltangady police station limits and is a resident of Karkala town.

Meanwhile, two Hindu activists who assaulted the accused before handing him over to the police have been booked. During the confrontation, the activists allegedly snatched his mobile phone, which reportedly contained hundreds of videos showing him in romantic situations with various girls.

Following the assault, the accused filed a counter-complaint, and an FIR was registered against the two individuals. Police are investigating whether the accused had a pattern of harassing other students.
