Mangaluru, Jun 29: The department of Forensic Science conducted a day-long visit programme for the students pursuing Masters in Forensic Science and Masters in Forensic Science and Criminology in collaboration with the Mangaluru District Prison.
The purpose of this visit was to learn the functions and procedures of correctional administration and to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom, practically through this visit.
The key orator of the programme was Imah Kashim, jailor of Mangaluru district prison. He explained about the current developments, history and infrastructure of prison and hierarchy of prison officials. He led the students to the nursery maintained by the prisoners. After visiting prison for females, Shafeena took everyone to study hall of the prisoners who are illiterate and semi-leterate.
The programme came to a conclusion as the students assembled to give a memento to T B Obeleshappa, superintendent of prison.
