Mangalore, Mar 12: Navinchandra D Suvarna, president, Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union ®, formerly known as the Billawara Union, Kudroli, urged community members to contribute to the construction of Billava Hostel during a function held at Damodar R Suvarna auditorium of Narayana Guru College, on Friday March 11.
He further said that although backward classes are privileged in terms of reservation in education and employment, infrastructural facilities are essential for this. “Therefore, the need to build hostels by the education institutions run by Billava communities,” he added.
Union joint secretary Sukalakshi Y Suvarna presented the annual report. Treasurer B Deranna presented the annual accounts. R K Bangera was elected convener of the governing council and it was unanimously decided to continue the past committee of the governing council.
Vice-president Lokanath, chief secretary Mohandas Mugila, Krishnappa Kotian, K T Suvarna, Y Sudhir Kumar, and Billava Mahila Sangh president Sumalata N Suvarna were present on the dais.
Newly-elected ZP member and community leader Satish Kumpala were felicitated on the same occasion.
Y Sukumar, Ratnakar Kotian, Sharat Suvarna Bajpe, K A Jayachandra, Shakilaraj, Ullas Kotian, and Deepak Yermal were present on the occasion.
Union members offered ‘puja’ at Gokarnanateshwar Temple, Kudroli, after the meet.
