Japan Tsunami – State Disaster Management Dept Issues Warning Alert

Mangalore, Mar 11: In the wake of a giant earthquake and Tsunami that hit Japan today, the department of disaster management, government of Karnataka has issued a warning alert fax message.

It has warned the  fishermen of  coastal Karnataka not to venture into the sea.DEPCOMS will remain on alert and  are adviced to take precautionary measures.

Concerned authorities are also asked to keep a close watch on all vulnerable areas. Control rooms  have been asked to be fully operational and report all the minor incidents. Rescue and relief teams to be on stand by for emergency duties, stated the fax release issued to the press.

Though the ministry of earth sciences has assured that people here need not panic as there is no tsunami threat to India, the disaster management department has just requested all to be cautious as nature's changes and reactions can never be predicted.
