Mangalore, Feb 23: Through a release, Palakkad division of the Southern Railways has informed that special trains have been introduced between Chennai and Mangalore Central stations, to handle extra rush of passengers on this sector, as follows:
Chennai Central – Mangalore Central – Chennai Central Weekly Specials: Train No. 06049 Chennai Central – Mangalore Central Weekly Special will leave Chennai Central at 20.40 hrs on Mondays from February 28, 2011 onwards till March 28, 2011, and arrive at Mangalore Central at 13.45 hrs. On the next day, Train No. 06050 Mangalore - Chennai Central Weekly Special will leave Mangalore Central at 16.20 hrs on Tuesdays from 1.3.2011 to 29.3.2011 and arrive at Chennai Central at 09.20 hrs the next day. The composition of the trains will be one AC 2-tier, ten sleeper class, four general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.
These trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Kozhikkode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod. Train No. 06050 will stop at Perambur too.
The department has also informed that advance reservation for these trains will commence on 24.2.2011.
