Puttur: Accident Near Kadaba - Bike Rider Dies, Pillion Rider Critical

Puttur, Feb 12: A two-wheeler rider named Satyaraj V (22), son of Veeraiah alias Mahendran, residing in Sunkadakatte C R Colony in Aittoor village, died in an accident that occurred on Friday February 11 afternoon on Kadaba-Subrahmanya state highway. A jeep hit the motor bike he was riding, when he was moving towards Mardala from Kadaba. Satyaraj’s uncle, Chandramohan (45), who was riding in the pillion, suffered grave injuries.

Satyaraj, employed in a private company in Bangalore, had come home in connection with the marriage of his sister, Sangeeta, on Sunday February 13. He had reached Kadaba from Bangalore in his bike on Friday afternoon, and was moving towards his home after picking his uncle at Kadaba, when tragedy struck. Chandramohan was admitted into a private hospital in Mangalore in critical condition.

The policemen have arrested T C Thomas alias Joyi, a resident of Karmayi in Mardala, who was driving the killer jeep at the time of the accident. The jeep, which is old, and is said to have been involved in accidents in the past too, has also has been seized.

The groom, his family members, and other relatives, had arrived from Tamil Nadu in connection with the marriage of Satyaraj’s sister. Everyone was waiting for the arrival of Satyaraj, who had shouldered the responsibility of running the family, when the tragic news reached them. Satyaraj is survived by parents, two brothers, one of whom is handicapped, and a sister.
